MARTA TO HOST IN-PERSON OPEN HOUSES AND VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETINGS ON CLIFTON CORRIDOR TRANSIT INITIATIVE PROJECT
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid
Transit Authority (MARTA) will host a series of four engagement opportunities
to provide updates and collect input on the Clifton Corridor Transit Initiative
Project. In-person open houses will be held Thursday, July 14 and Saturday,
July 16, and virtual public meetings held on Tuesday, July 19 and Wednesday,
July 20. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about ten
alternatives under study and provide feedback to the project team.
MARTA is studying bus rapid transit (BRT)
and light rail transit (LRT) along the Clifton Corridor, within the City of
Atlanta, unincorporated DeKalb County, and the City of Decatur. This
high-capacity transit project could connect the Lindbergh Center Station to
Decatur or Avondale Stations along a rapidly developing residential,
institutional, and mixed-use corridor. Key destinations include Emory
University, Emory University Hospital, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - Egleston, and Atlanta VA
Medical Center.
