 West Lake Station

 Image - Joseph Perrin

 Joseph Perrin
 'Untitled'
  Media: Multi-colored 3" porcelain tiles
  Year: 1979
  Conservation Status: Major Restoration Required
Notes: This massive undertaking by painter Joseph Perrin contains 320,000 three-inch tiles. The artist worked closely with the architect to create a design which emphasized and worked with the angles of the station to create strong diagonals and the sense of speed. With unusual color choices (pale blues and pinks against vibrant orange), stepping off the train at West Lake station feels like stepping into a giant abstract painting.
