Roofing Rehabilitation Program

Current Status  

As of Spring 2025, the following MARTA properties are included in the Roofing Rehabilitation Program. Please see status details below:   

  • Armour Yard (maintenance facility): Design in progress. 
  • GWCC/CNN Center Station (rail station): Construction beginning in late April 2025. There is no expected impact to MARTA service.  Learn more about progress at GWCC/CNN Station here. 
  • South Yard (maintenance facility): Construction complete. 

We will share additional location information as the program progresses.

Project Overview 

The MARTA roofing program involves comprehensive planning and management of sub-projects to inspect and address the condition of over 190 facility roofs covering 3 million square feet.  

The scope includes detailed inspections to assess structural and architectural integrity, identify damage or leakage, and determine rehabilitation or replacement needs. It covers roof design enhancements in compliance with MARTA, federal, and state standards. 

This project increases longevity of roof structures and improves overall safety and station conditions for MARTA customers and personnel.  

Overall Project Features  

  • Rehabilitating and/or replacing damaged and leaking roof sections 
  • Reinforcement of caulking/sealants to prevent future leaks 
  • Improvements to storm water drainage 
  • New paint 
  • Maintenance of fire protection system  
  • Replacement or addition of skylights 
  • Metal wall panel replacement 
  • Repair/replace roof walkways to direct foot traffic and prevent damage
