Traveling to the Carter
Presidential Center
- Those wishing to pay their respects MUST take the train to King Memorial and ride the FREE shuttles to The Carter Presidential Center unless they plan to walk or bike.
- Free bus shuttles will depart from King Memorial Station every three to five minutes around the clock beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
- BAGS AND UMBRELLAS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SHUTTLES OR AT THE CARTER CENTER. DO NOT BRING A BAG WITH YOU. SEE BELOW FOR ADDITIONAL PROHIBITED ITEMS.
- There is NO public
parking available at King Memorial. You may park at any of the rail stations with parking. See a

- Rail service will operate continuously for 60 hours.
- Local bus routes out of King Memorial Station will be rerouted. View the
reroutes.

MOBILITY
CUSTOMERS
- Mobility customers may call the reservation office at 404-848-5826 for transport to The Carter Center or travel to King Memorial Station and take a Mobility shuttle.
PROHIBITED
ITEMS
- BAGS AND UMBRELLAS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE SHUTTLES OR AT THE CARTER CENTER. An exception will be made for diaper bags which will be searched by hand at the Carter Center. DO NOT BRING A BAG WITH YOU. Backpacks, bags, purses, clutches, and camera bags ARE NOT ALLOWED and will be surrendered and not returned.
- Other prohibited items include aerosols, ammunition, animals other than service animals, bicycles, balloons, coolers, drones, and other unmanned aircraft systems, explosives, firearms, glass, thermal or metal containers, laser pointers, mace, packages, selfie sticks, toy guns, weapons of any kind, or any other items determined to be potential safety hazards.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
- You will be subject to search at The Carter Center and any prohibited items must be surrendered and will not be returned.
- You may NOT leave personal items at King Memorial Station for pick up upon your return.
- Portable toilets are available at King Memorial Station.
- The bus shuttle waiting area at King Memorial Station is covered.
- MARTA Transit Ambassadors will be deployed systemwide to assist customers. Look for employees in the MARTA safety vests.

- Please expect to wait for prolonged periods of time. There will be many mourners given the deep ties the President maintained in our state and the warmth with which he was regarded.
